Any interesting YA 2010 challenges?

Post  Kaysbookshelf on Sun Nov 08, 2009 6:00 am

2010 is the first year when I intend to fully participate in challenges (I even set up a challenges page on my blog hehe).

Right now I have quite a few planned, but, since there's always room for a new one, I thought I should ask you:

Do you participate in any YA challenges in 2010? If so, what are they?

Thanks!

I plan to be a part of as many challenges in 2010 as I can possibly handle!

2010 is going to be a throw-back year for me.
I plan on reading everything Jane Austen has written - her novels, short-stories, unfinished works, journals, & all three volumes of Juvenilia
everything by Charles Dickens ( starting w/ 'Great Expectations' ) , Oscar Wilde, John Milton, Dante Alighieri, Sophocles, Plato, Homer, Ovid, & Virgil.
also - re-reading all of Thoreau's works as well as Shakespeare's.

I've never been a part of a challenge, and I always wanted too. so next year I will hopefully be able to do at least two, they always look like so much fun.

Challenges

Post  lamian_empress on Thu Nov 12, 2009 2:45 am

I really love doing challenges but I'm not sure what ones I'm going to do next year. I've been trying to think up some reading challenges over the last couple of days.

I am doing one challenge for next year though, and that one is to read 40 books by Meg Cabot.

Alright - found some good 2010 challenges.
I'll probably do them all.

Here they are ( listed in no particular order )

- 1010 Reading Challenge ( this is broken up into 10 categories of your choice - you are to read 10 books from each category - thus the '1010' )
- Six Book Challenge ( this one has a website - - http://www.sixbookchallenge.org.uk/index.html ) this one lets you write as well as read which is a plus for me.
- "Read the Best Books First" ( http://bibliophilebythesea.blogspot.com/2009/10/books-to-read-before-i-die-challenge.html )
- "Awesome Author Challenge" ( http://athomewithbooks.blogspot.com/2009/10/awesome-author-challenge-2010.html )
&
- The Count Down Challenge ( http://1morechapter.com/countdown/ ) .

Wow, thank you for the links!

I didn't know any of this other than the Countdown Challenge which I am already almost halfway through (it started on September Smile ). I'll go check out the links now.

Thanks again!

But of course, I figured there might be something there for everyone.
I'm glad you found one or that you thought you'd be able to do. c : ( it also helps that you're already started with one, huh? )

Ah - I've actually known about the Six Book Challenge for awhile myself, do to various outlets & having known people who've been in the program.

Thank you, too. I really want to participate in some of the challenges you posted.
